Meet Cara
Cara has been in the animal rescue and veterinary clinic profession for nearly 25 years, working in rescue organizations and large and small vet clinics as a veterinary nurse. In addition, Cara holds a CPDT-KA (Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed), KPA-CTP (Karen Pryor Academy-Canine Training Partner)
Growing up, even though she did not come from a family that was animal friendly she would make friends with animals where ever she would go. She was innately drawn to animals as a young child. Starting at 5 years she was convincing people to let her sit on horses when she would visit farms and wandering her childhood city neighborhood to find “all the dogs”. Thus began a lifelong pursuit to understand and delve into the minds, hearts, and souls of animals. She took those lessons the horses and dogs taught her. In 2016 she launched her dog care and training business to bring her knowledge and expertise to support dogs and their guardians.
Cara doesn’t view herself as a “trainer”, but sees her job as a facilitator and coach to both pet and pet parent: To clarify expectations, strengthen their bonds of trust and understanding to create harmony in and outside the home.
When Cara is not working in the canine community, she is on her family’s farmette, singing and talking to her six rescue (and mainly geriatric) horses while laughing at the naughty antics of her mentor dogs. She enjoys long haul hikes with her canine connected daughter and her husband who helps hold down the fort.
